Paul Nielsen is a graduate of Chicago's Loyola University School of Business Administration and Harvard Universities Office Of The Vice Provost, as a Certified Mergers &Acquisitions Advisor and Cyber Security Advisor from these institutions.
He holds registration as a Certified Practicing Business Broker (CPBB}, a Certified Machinery & Equipment Appraiser (CMEA}, Certified Chair (CCABC}, Licensed Real Estate Agent and Justice of the Peace (Qual}.
Paul is a Fellow of both the Australian Institute of Business Brokers (FAIBB} and the International Institute of Directors & Managers (FIIDM} and is an Accredited Senior Business Analyst (SBA) with the International Society of Business Analysts.
He is a former Director and Past Chair of the Council Of Small Businesses Of Australia LTD (COSBOA} whose membership includes 48 SME Industry Bodies with a direct reach to over 800,000 Small Businesses in Australia representing the interests of some 2.3 million Small Business in Australia on Policy matters to the Federal Government and Departments.
On the Public Service front, after appointed as a Director, Paul was elected Board Chairman of the Council Of Small Business Associations of Australia LTD (COSBOA) and served 3 successive terms.
In that capacity he gave advice on SME matters to the Australian Tax Office (ATO) Red Tape Reduction Steering Committee, the ATO's Goods & Services Tax (GST} Advisory Committee, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission's (ACCC), the Small Business and Franchising Consultative Committee, the Federal Government's Productivity Commission and the National Parliament's House of Representatives Standing Committee on Tax and Revenue.
In 2017 Paul graduated from Harvard University in Boston USA as a Certified Cyber Security Advisor and sat on the Prime Ministers Round Table on Cybersecurity matters.
After joining the Advisory Board Centre (ABC), the global professional body for the Advisory Board sector which provides independent strategic advisors worldwide with education and advice relative to Advisory Board operations. Paul completed the ABC's Technical Foundations and Certified Chair Management programs in the same year.
After rejoining Benchmark in 2024 he offers his experience spanning 41+ Years in senior Management & Advisory M&A roles to Benchmark's Confidential Corporate Clients where he executes Independent 3rd Party Certified Fair Market Valuations as well as a range of Corporate Agreements and Transactions for Middle Market companies including Acquisitions & Divestments, MBO's, MBl's, Joint Ventures for entities with turnovers from AUS $3 million to AUS $ 50 million in the Health Care, Manufacturing, Wholesale, Import/Export/Distribution, IP, IT and Professional Services areas.
